According to Wikipedia, Somerville MA was first settled in 1630 as part of Charlestown. It was known as "Charlestown beyond the Neck" because it was part of the Massachusetts mainland, not the Charlestown Peninsula. From "beyond the neck" to a big city with a population of 75,000+ to more recently benefited by lobbying grassroots organizations attempting to revive and preserve Somerville's "small town" neighborhood environments by supporting local business, public transit, gardens and the following:

1.  Bicycle Friendly Community:  Somerville MA was recently recognized by the League of American Bicyclists with a Silver Level Bicycle Friendly Community Designation for their commitment to creating a bikeable community.

2.  Somerville Arts Council:  A go to site for the "inner" artist in all of us. October Artist of the Month, Don Blakeslee, you'll know his work if you work, live or regularly visit Somerville!

3. Davis Square: A cultural and dining destination, where there is something for everyone!

As of this week, according to MLS, Somerville MA Real Estate is currently listing 67 properties. 11 single family homes -$711,125 average listing price / 42 condos - $575,533 average listing price / 14 multi-family homes- $752,105 average listing price with new properties being added daily.
